Tools are a major focus in this class. Though many things can be completed by hand tools are often necessary. In creating artwork what type of tools have you used? In using these tools how did they help your work along? Explain their function and purpose. (Ex. Pottery Wheel, aviation snips, Clay rib) I used a lot of different clay tool throughout the year , I have used the sponge, ribs and scrappers, fettling knives, potter’s needle, cut-off wire, loop & ribbon tool , wooden molding tools & pretty many more. If it wasn’t for these tools some things would have been extremely hard for example if used the rib & sponge a lot when making my pit fire piece to make it smooth as possible. Loop & Ribbon Tools can be used when trimming pottery or hollowing out pottery. Sponges are used more in throwing on the wheel to wet & shape your piece. Ribs are used to help mold & shape your piece.Describe a project where the choices you made regarding material, size, technique, etc helped enhance this project. I think that a project that my choice of material, size, & technique enchanted it is my Paper Mache Elephant. My elephant really came to life when I choose to do it this size instead of a little one because it makes me more surreal especially since elephants are big animals. Also my choice of materials so I think basing the body out of cardboard first really helped the structure & adding toenails & eyelids out of hot glue made it more real looking & when touching. What was your favorite material that you used this year? Why do you like working with it? CLAYYY !! I honestly think clay is my favorite because Although it is a messy you can make many different things with it. I liked working with clay because it put you to the test to see if you could get the outcome that what you actually wanted. The variety of things that you can make with clay just makes it even better because you can make a bowl or you can make a Barbie house lol.Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in the course? Please explain. I think that the 1 day paper project was the least important in learning the concepts taught in the course because although it was challenging & fun it wasn’t really like anything else we do & you didn’t really have to learn or use a skill to complete it. I think that it was a more of a “Art Class” type of project . Although I say its least important it was still cool to do.

I don’t have the pictures but you said that you have the video of whole thing. I mad the poster for the emotion “SAD”.Explain the idea of an installation. To me an installation is when you take a space & turn it into something “totally different” just by using 3-D art throughout . Installation is mainly the art of designing & the perception of space. What do you think of the finished product? I think that the finished product was pretty good everyone seemed to enjoy it but I do think we could have planned better and made it better but also it was great due to the circumstances. How would you have changed it if it was your personal project verses a group project? I think that if it was a personal project instead of a group project then it wouldn’t have been as “ chaotic”. Always if it was just myself I prolly would’ve thought of something a little more simpler. So I guess you say that working In a group made the project harder in certain ways but always better. Who did what in your group? Explain each person's role including your own. Well I choose to work on the poster part of the project along with Abby , we decided to do like a wordle of the main word & put it into the “shape/emoji” of that word , & then we put all the synonyms around it on the poster board.Explain the process of paper mache. : the process of paper mache is VERY VERY LONGGG !!! , you have to first decide what you want to make which takes longer then usual , and then you have to plan out how you are going to shape it, i based mine off of a cardboard body. i then made it fat by bunching up paper and gluing it on. after that i taped the whole thing to give it a shape, i then began the very long paper mache process which took like two weeks. once that was finally done i began painting and i ended up changing the color. overall i like how it turned out.
How was your piece successful? : i think my piece was successful because it overall came out looking like how i wanted it to i think its a nice size and it actually looks like a elephant. What difficulties did you have with it? : i had a few difficulties with getting the shape in the beginning and a few other small things. Was it the shape? Medium? Layers? it was the shape of an elephant , i used cardboard, paper, glue, and paint. i have tons of layers. Process : the process i did was i rolled out my clay, i cut out the shape, then i made it "3-D" and painted it with a black glaze. the next 2 days i craved my design out onto my tile which took a long time. Lastly i glazed it with clear and yellow in the center and put glass and fired it.
What did i think of the process? : I think that the process was fairly simple and not really hard to follow although it was somewhat tedious when making your design. How was your pieces successful and how might you change it if you were to do it again? Alexis DiazAlexis Diaz is from Puerto Rico, but lives and works in Florida Alexis creates paintings and murals so uses paints, spray paint and "buildings" stuff like that. Alexis is known for his d dreamlike depictions on animals (metamorphosis). He really likes phantasmagorical creatures. He is also well-known for his very detailed work by using line-by-line techniques.. he uses tiny black strokes(brush) on white backdrop to make the animals more detailed and realistic. what i am so drawn in by and inspired by is how he became a well known artist on his own, alongside with his friend who is also a artist but they grew together, and still work together but also alone. Also, i like how he has a certain technique that he sticks to which makes it more realistic looking |
